The shrine was founded during the Hōtoku era (1449–1452 CE) by inviting the deities Hachiman Daijin from Otayama Hachiman-jinja in Yamashiro Province, Kuki Daijin from Iwaki Kuki-jinja, and Hikawa Daijin from Omiya Hikawa-jinja. From the Meiji to the Taishō era, several shrines were merged into this site. The main hall (honden) retains the characteristics of Edo-period sculpture and was designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2022 (Reiwa 4).
