Founded in 1616 CE (Genna 2) by the monk Shengyo in Tsugaru, Saga Prefecture. The fourth abbot, Fumon, was well-versed in divination and was summoned by Tadaasa Okubo, the lord of Tsugaru Domain. Following the lord's transfer, the temple moved to Sakura and then to Odawara. In 1685 CE (Joho 2), a hall was constructed in Odawara-Yazu, and the temple relocated to its current location in 1967 CE (Shōwa 42).
