Yukoji Temple

A temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism located in Hirado City, Nagasaki Prefecture. Its mountain name is Shunrinzan. The temple grounds contain the graves of successive feudal lords and the grave of poet Kyo Fujiura.
History
In 1695 CE (Genroku 8), the temple was established at its current location by relocating the Gessetsu-an from Mount Oshima, where Matsura Tadatsugu, the lord of Hirado Domain, had served as a student. The founding monk was Bankei Eitaku, a Zen master who was Tadatsugu's teacher. Since then, it has served as the ancestral temple for successive lords of the Hirado Domain.
