History
This temple was established by descendants of Hata Kawakatsu, a supporter of Prince Shotoku, who converted to Rennyo of Ishiyama Hongwanji in Osaka and became its founder. It is said to have been founded in 1498 in Tamatsukuri, Chuo-ku, and was relocated to its current location in 1635. The temple burned down during the Oshio Heihachiro Rebellion in 1837 but was rebuilt. It survived the air raids of World War II.
