歴史・由来
Taiheizan Miyoshi Jinja, a representative shrine of Akita, is an ancient shrine overlooking the sacred mountain of Shugyō (ascetic training), Taiheizan. As the head shrine of the Miyoshi shrines nationwide, it has been affectionately known as "Miyoshi-san" and "Sankichi-san."
Shrines that convey the history and faith of Akita are scattered throughout the area, including Karamatsu Jinja and Yataka Jinja (Yataka Shrine), which enshrines the national scholar Hirata Atsutatsu.

Taiheizan Miyoshi Jinja is worshipped as a deity of victory and strength, and during the "Bonten-sai" festival in January, magnificent Bonten (ritual banners) are offered. Karamatsu Jinja is known for its unique "Furi-miya" (descending shrine) layout, where the shrine building is lower than its surroundings, and it is a famous site for prayers for fertility and safe childbirth.
