歴史・由来
Nagoya flourished as a castle town for the Owari Tokugawa family. With Atsuta Jingu (Atsuta Grand Shrine) at its center—housing the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, one of the Three Sacred Treasures—shrines associated with the Tokugawa and temples in the gate towns (monzen-machi) developed significantly.
The area in front of Osu Kannon is still beloved today as the vibrant and lively Osu Shopping District.

At Atsuta Jingu (Atsuta Grand Shrine), you can walk through the precincts enveloped in a deep forest and pay your respects at the historic shrine buildings. You can enjoy Osu Kannon along with the sprawling Osu Shopping District in front of the temple, and visit shrines unique to a castle town, such as Nagoya Toshogu (Nagoya Toshogu Shrine) and Yamada Tenmangu (Nagoya Tenjin).
Since these locations are conveniently spread across the city, a half-day tour by car is highly recommended.
